It’s been a while since my last post and the weird part is that I’ve haven’t been on a vacation or something 🙂 Actually, I’ve worked very hard on some personal projects – of course, I’ll share them with you, but let’s take it step by step.
I’m in a very mysterious way … let’s say addicted to gadgets, programming languages and any piece of code or any little thing that can make my life easier or automate something 🙂 – that’s one of the reasons why I started to learn Swift.
I don’t want to become a full-time Swift developer but I like to be familiar with the code, or at least to understand what’s happening there if I see some Swift code – based on how often Swift gets updated and improved, I really believe in the next years, this will become a ‘must know’ if you want to create something awesome 🙂
What the $#*& is Swift?
Swift is a powerful and intuitive programming language for macOS, iOS, watchOS, and tvOS. ( shut the front door ).
I’m not that kind of person that will start a fight for anything that’s from Apple but for the past years I’m on macOS, I use an iPhone and an Apple Watch – and to be honest I’m very happy with this setup – now I think it’s obvious why I wanted to understand/learn/code Swift, right?
Well, I’ve started the Swift course at teamtreehouse and it took me about 2 weeks to create my very first Swift application – a very basic one ( provides me a fun fact each time I tap a button – I’ve named the app Factos ). Now I have the basic knowledge to create my own apps – simple apps that will help organize myself better, that will automate some of my daily routines 🙂 – my purpose has been achieved.
You can learn more than Swift at TTH – from web design to ROR – go ahead and create an account, it’s never too late to learn something new 🙂
This is one of the projects I’ve completed and one of the reasons why I’ve been missing for such a long period – hey! this is only one of the reasons, in the next posts I’ll come back with some other ones and you’ll understand that yeah I was goddamn busy ( lol, do not believe me ).
For those interested, here are the source files for the first version of Factos – enjoy 🙂
